Role Overview
They are seeking a highly experienced General Manager with deep technical expertise in hydraulics and proven leadership capability.
This is a technically authoritative leadership role, not a purely administrative position. The successful candidate must be able to:
- Diagnose and guide complex fault finding
- Support technicians in high-pressure breakdown situations
- Lead operational performance and business growth
The role is hands-on in a technical advisory capacity, and also physical repair work if needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overall business operations, including workshop and field service
- Provide technical leadership on diagnostics and complex repairs
- Manage and optimise breakdown response and turnaround times
- Drive execution of an aggressive growth strategy
- Build and develop a high-performance technical team
- Oversee financial performance, job costing, and profitability
- Maintain ISO standards (ISO 9001) and quality systems
- Manage key customer relationships and escalations
Candidate Requirements
Experience
- 15–20 years’ experience in hydraulics / mechanical engineering environment
- Minimum 10 years in a senior management role
- Very strong background in hydraulic component repair and fault finding
- Experience in breakdown-driven / high-pressure environments
- Proven track record in scaling or growing a service-based business
Technical Capability
- Deep understanding of hydraulic systems and failure modes
- Ability to guide, diagnose, and validate technical work
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Leadership & Business Skills
- Strong operational and financial management ability
- Experience building and leading technical teams
- Ability to drive performance and accountability
- Commercial awareness (pricing, margins, cost control)
