JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Finance Manager is responsible for the operational financial management of the company which includes budget planning, cash flow and balance sheet forecasts, payroll reviews and sign- off, inventory and fixed assets controls and processing, periodic financial management and company reporting while ensuring statutory and tax compliance, management of the company Accounts & Admin team, as well as creating and implementation of all relevant policies and procedures.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Monthly Financial Reporting:
- Manage and oversee the company’s daily accounting activities to maintain the company’s general ledger.
- Ensure timeous and accurate full monthly financial reporting which includes: o Reviewing and authorisation of month-end processing journals.
- Review, authorisation and releasing of all supplier payments.
- Review and control of Fixed Asset Registers. o Review of VAT201 reconciliations and returns, ensuring accurate monthly reporting and submission to SARS.
- Together with HR Manager, review of Payroll Statutory Returns and Payments, ensuring payment deadlines are met to avoid interest and penalties.
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met by the finance department.
- Review of cashbooks and daily reconciliations to bank statements.
- Daily review and balancing of debtors, creditors, and inventory modules to general ledger.
- Monitoring and review of monthly expenses to approved budgets, reporting any areas of concern.
- Review of Debtors and Creditors Age Analysis.
- Weekly and Monthly review of general ledger, ensuring that all income statement and balance sheet transactions are correctly accounted for and that all required reconciliations are completed and signed off at month end.
- Review and control of general ledger payroll reconciliations and monthly reporting.
- Ensure that the individual monthly financial reports together with the consolidated MFR’s are presented to the Financial Director timeously and accurately for review, approval and monthly reporting.
- Compilation of monthly Cash Flow reporting on the 4th working day of every month.
- Compilation and review of all forex transactions, adhering to group’s hedging policy.
Quarter and Year End:
- Ensure timeous and accurate quarter end and year end reporting as per guide- lines and timelines.
- Assisting with stock counts and investigating variances.
- Work closely with the FD to ensure that an accurate budget and forecasting results are delivered biannually by preparing supporting schedules.
- Work closely with the FD to ensure an accurate compilation of the consolidated year end pack by preparing supporting schedules.
- Lead the Year End Financial audit preparations and co-ordination of the audit process.
- Completion and submission of ITR14 on an annual basis if required.
Internal Control:
- Continuous review and adjustment of internal controls to ensure that the company control environment remains effective and relevant.
- Conduct all internal audits at branches, leading a finance team to assess risk and timeously report to the Financial Director.
Ad hoc projects:
- Assist with ad hoc projects as requested from time to time, including but limited parts price adjustments, special costing projects, etc. 5.
Staff Management:
- Manage, develop and guide direct reporting staff in line with corporate culture. ports.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completed BCom Accounting, professional body membership an advantage.
- 3‐5 Years Financial experience in a financial management role
- Very strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Very strong ERP knowledge (preferably Embrace).
- MS Office knowledge, with intermediate to advance Excel skills.
