The Assistant Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing cash flow, financial transactions, and reporting to ensure accuracy. Key duties include maintaining audit spreadsheets, updating financial records, and reporting on profit and loss. The role also involves collaborating with teams to gather financial data for accurate audits and ensuring compliance.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Assist in the preparation, review, and presentation of management accounts.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of monthly profit and loss statements.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Assist with processing month-end accruals and provision journals.
  • Review bank, debtors, and creditors reconciliations
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet items.
  • Assist in reconciling inter-company loan and trade accounts.
  • Support the maintenance of the company’s fixed asset register.
  • Review and upload payments on the banking platform
  • Assist in managing monthly cash flow projections.
  • Aid in preparing the year-end audit file and support the Financial Manager during the year-end audit process.
  • Provide support in managing the finance team.
  • Prepare VAT payments and reconcile VAT accounts.
  • Prepare monthly management reports.
  • Process tax payments
  • Offer administrative support during the budget preparation process.
  • Manage treasury functions, including fleet card and credit card management.
  • Support intercompany reporting
  • Oversee financial reporting for the ESG project.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the fixed asset register.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications,

  • Matric – (Grade 12)
  • BCom degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • Qualified CA(SA) with at least 3 years of experience.

Experience and Skills

  • 5–7 years of direct experience in a similar role within the same or related industries
  • 5–7 years of experience ensuring and promoting compliance with company and procurement policies and procedures
  • 3–5 years of experience with MS Power BI
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Finance Manager or in a similar capacity
  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
  • Proficient in using financial software.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • In-depth understanding of financial regulations
  • Excellent analytical and numerical abilities
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • High ethical standards with the ability to handle confidential data.
  • Experience with VAT and PAYE reconciliations and submissions
  • Maintenance of fixed asset register
